November Home Trends: What’s In for 2026 — A Chat with Interior Stylist Hannah Thomas

November 18, 2025

Hello,

As we head into the cozy months, it’s the perfect time to talk about what’s next in home design. We sat down with Hannah Thomas, a Kelowna-based interior stylist, to explore what’s trending for 2026—and how to bring warmth, texture, and luxury into your home.

Goodbye, White Everything

According to Hannah, “Whites are definitely taking a back seat.” Homes are leaning toward
deep, rich, moody tones—burgundy wine, dark chocolate, mushroom, and earthy beige.
Designers are embracing a trend called colour drenching, where walls, trim, and ceilings are all painted the same hue, creating an enveloping and sophisticated effect.

Texture, Layers & Soul

While walls go darker, furniture lightens up. “We’re seeing softer neutrals—beige, taupe,
mushroom—but with more layers and texture,” Hannah explains. Velvet sofas, plush throws, natural woods, and layered rugs make rooms feel inviting and lived-in. The look is cozy minimalism: simple, but full of soul.

Luxury Living Meets Wellness

The new definition of luxury? Wellness at home.
Homeowners are trading movie rooms for saunas, steam showers, red-light therapy, and yoga spaces—creating personal spa retreats that bring calm and health into daily life. It’s a shift toward spaces that feel restorative and nurturing, rather than purely showy.

Materials & Metals That Matter

Stone continues to dominate—from sculptural coffee tables to Taj Mahal quartzite countertops in warm taupes and creams. Chrome is fading, replaced by antique brass, graphite appliances, and integrated wood cabinetry. The result is warmer, more grounded, and timelessly elegant.

The Return of Nostalgia

“Granny’s coming back,” laughs Hannah. Design is embracing nostalgia—tapered lampshades, heavier silhouettes, dusky pinks, bottle greens, and vintage-inspired touches that bring comfort and character. For the holidays, expect a Ralph Lauren Christmas vibe: tartan, velvet red, bottle green, candelabras, and gold accents. Classic, rich, and beautifully layered.

Quick Fixes That Elevate Any Home

If you’re thinking about selling—or simply refreshing—Hannah suggests focusing on simple
upgrades that make a big difference:

 Swap out builder-grade lighting for statement fixtures
 Update cabinet hardware for a fresh look
 Paint in warmer tones (no grey or white!)
 Add texture and warmth with layered rugs, pillows & art

These easy updates help create a polished, inviting space that feels high-end without a full
renovation.

Hannah leaves us with this: “Your home should make you happy. Design trends come and go, but warmth, texture, and comfort never go out of style.”

Whether you’re planning a move or simply want your space to feel refreshed and inspired, we’re always here to help you navigate both design and market trends with confidence.
